The series revolves around Ki Seung Nyang, a Koryeo-born woman who ascends to power despite the restrictions of the era’s class system, later marrying Emperor Huizong to become an empress of the Yuan Dynasty. The series depicts her relationships and political ambitions as she is torn between the two nations.
